How I used Fivver for recording a backing track for an original song....

About a year ago I decided to try the site Fivver to find music producers who could take my recordings of my originals to the next level. Studio time and hiring studio musicians is expensive. I had heard some good things about Fivver so I went searching.
I found a gentleman named Ismael Nunez...incredibly talented musician and producer. After a few conversations with him about what I wanted for my song-mainly a nice acoustic arrangement with four instruments - we began the process me
I'll describe it here because it was very different than my previous real-life studio experiences.
I used my laptop and my Yeti professional microphone along with my PreSonus unit and Studio One to record the guitar track and the vocal tracks. This was just recorded in my small music room at home, no special features, no soundproof booths.
I recorded it over and over till I was content with it ( although now I sing it a bit differently so not AS content as I was at the time:).
I emailed these two tracks to Ismael. He got to work on his end coming up with the percussion track and keyboard parts
He is an incredible musician and producer!
He would send me sound files as he worked on it and if there was a chord change or timing change I wanted ,I would describe it to him and he would make the change and send it back to me for review!
Very easy to work around as far as scheduling because it was all done through email. So instead of having to set aside days in the studio, we both just worked from our own homes on our own schedules:). His studio name is Lost Room Studios.
It took about two weeks to get the finished project which is what you hear in this lyric video I made. He sent me sound files called "stems" which is basically each instrumentation track at CD sound quality. Mixing and mastering was not included in the agreement but to my ear, it sounds just fine:)
I spent about $800 on one song when I went into a studio years ago.
For this production I only had to spend $150.
I will probably do most of my recordings for my first CD this way because of the economic savings and I like the time saved as well:). It will be a slow process and a type of "grassroots" way of releasing a CD but at least it will get done, Lord willing:)
I am looking for a new producer/studio musicians through Fivver now because Ismael is no longer taking jobs through Fivver. I feel blessed to have had him help with this song!
The song itself was written to two combined prompts...write about water + write about silver lining.
This post speaks more to the production process. I will try to get a post up regarding the writing process soon. Thanks for listening and I hope you enjoy it!
(,I'm still learning the video making so be patient with me as I hopefully improve those skills over time 😜)
